How long have you been actively looking for skateboard swag to collect?

3-4 years.

What made you start looking? Where?

I grew up in Windsor Woods right around the corner from Mike Crescini, he had just turned pro for Vision and he hooked me up with a board. That was the one board I wanted to find and it snowballed into retardation.

What kind of stuff is in your stash? Decks? Completes?Trucks?Wheels?Gear?Mags?

I have 45 NOS decks ranging from Santa Cruz to Powell Peralta and Vision. I collect some of the local VB pro's from Sergie Ventura and Henry Gutierrez. I have a couple riders and a box of misc. crap. Some stickers, Disposable "the bible of skateboard collecting" a Jim Phillips art book, shit load of hats and shoes too.

What warrants it to be collected? Particular time frame? Brand? Artist? Rider?

Guess it all depends on what you like, I tend to look for the boards I had, or wanted and never got as a kid. The VB local boards are part of the scene I grew up in. I do have to say that Jim Phillips art is my favorite, VCJ had some pretty cool graphics, Cliver did ok for himself too.

What does your family and friends think of all your crap?

Most of them think it's pretty cool until I tell them how much money we pay for these decks. I don't really care about what others think, they are mine and I enjoy having them.

Do you think it's appropriate for this stuff to be warranted as collectible and desirable? Think it will become more desirable or blowed the fuck out?

I can see why people collect lot's of different things. These things hold a special place in time for most people. To be able to have someting preserved over 20 years that is intended to be destroyed is a feat in itself. I don't know if skateboards will be as desireable in another 10-20 years, most of the collectors of our time are looking for the stuff they had in the 80's or early 90's. Only time will tell.

This 40 Year Old Virgin type stuff or what?

I've had my share of different toy collections over the years ranging from Monster Jam trucks to Marvel Legends to G.I. Joe figures. I'm a kid at heart, just like that old commercial...I don't wanna grow up.

Top three decks of all time?

#1My grail : Vision Mark Gonzales is #1 hands down. First deck I ever bought myself back in 86-87' from 17th Street Surf Shop In Virginia Beach. #2 Powell Peralta Tommy Guerrero flaming dagger, I had quite a few of them, up until around 94' when I met my wife. #3 Santa Cruz Rob Roskopp Face, used to get some good ollies on that board.

Worst graphic ever?

That's a tough one, there was a lot of ugly boards made ( still being made ) Most of the late 80's stuff had a real feel to it, most of the 90's stuff had there select audience, but the shit they put out today seems so bland and no creativity is involved for the most part. My pick would either be the Natas devil worship or the Vallely barnyard, very sought after ( for whatever unknown reason ) decks that I think are way over rated. Now that Salba baby graphic, Astaley loves the baby cock.

What are some things in particular you would like to get a hold of?

Let me grab my copy of Disposable and hit the shitter...where's my cigarettes. I would love to have a ton of more decks, but I'd be happy to score a few more grails and be done. The Schmitt Stix Grosso Blocks, Schmitt Stix Rip Saw, Santa Cruz Grosso Alice, Grosso Demon, Kendall Pumpkin, Roskopp target series 1-5. A couple Airbourne decks, a couple more Gonz decks. I could keep going.

Do you still skate or did you grow up skating?

I bust my ass every so often, but no where near some of those cool S&B "bro's". I have a buddy with a trick box and a mini, we hang out at least once a month. My knees cant take those street slams like they used to. I used to go up to Trashmore as a kid and watch Sergie and Gutierrez tear that shit up.

Ever forced to use your shirt or other article of clothing as makeshift TP due to an emergency Deuce?

No, I try to do all my business in the privacy of my own home with my cigarettes and NOS decks to keep me company while I talk to Astaley on the phone.
