May '09 Deckhead brings in CJ Davis serving it up from Mesa Arizona. Stoked when CJ dropped me line and gave me some insight to himself and the skateboard crack he hits. Very interesting in that it's a total trans-generational hook with these things. Someone his age into skating now and seeing the tools of the past intriguing enough to hoard. Shit's timeless and this is proof in the pudding. And while all you old fogies are tossing out the funny money left and right, CJ is a Baron of the Wasteland picking up gems totally indicative of multiple eras of skateboarding. The hard way. The kid brings game so you big heads better keep on your toes. Keep on gettin' slick. And anyone looking for a true piece of T-Hawk memorabilia get in touch with Momma Davis.

How long have you been actively looking for skateboard swag to collect?

1 year.

What made you start looking? Where?

I saw an ad on Craigslist for a 300 dollar old board and was like what kind of crazy person would spend 300 bucks for an old school skateboard? And the Craigslist ad had a link to AoS. Then my Dad told me all his skateboarding stories from the 80s so I just started collecting them.

Your Dad ever keep any of his old sticks?

Sadly my Dad cut his boards' tail off and made a swing out of his last remaining old school set up and gave the trucks to someone when I was like 8. But somewhere at my grandparent's house is my Mom's Vision Tom Groholski Heavy Metal somewhere. In like mint condition when it was packed 10 years ago (Have a lead on where it might be and could be mine soon). My mom did however have a shoe Tony Hawk gave her at a contest that she found in her special box in the attic.

What kind of stuff is in your stash? Decks? Completes? Trucks? Wheels? Gear? Mags?

Trying to get every thing a complete, but I don’t have all the plastic. My favorite stuff is Powell pigs, by the way nice pigs I can’t believe you get such good deals. I also like Santa Cruz stuff and some other random crap.

What does your family and friends think of all your crap?

They think I'm obsessed and spend way to much money. Which is where at least 95% of my income goes.

Do you think it's appropriate for this stuff to be warranted as collectible and desirable? Think it will become more desirable or blowed the fuck out?

Yeah, one man's junk is another mans treasure. I don’t care. I think I'll always collect.

This 40 Year Old Virgin type stuff or what?

Yeah, except for its more punk and cool.

Top three decks of all time?

1st Hawk, Hawk Skull, Ollie Tank

Worst graphic ever?

Frankie Hill Ear.

What are some things in particular you would like to get a hold of?

Ollie Tank, 1st Hawk, McGill Jet Fighter, Vato, Skull and Snake, any Powell pigs I don’t have. And Powell freestyle.

Do you still skate or did you grow up skating?

Didn’t start until I was 13. I still skate but I need to skate more. My favorite spot is a backyard pool that sadly they just took a sledge hammer to about a week ago and now is ruined. And the giant wooden bowl up the street at Desert Devils.

You ever ride some of the older boards/ gear whether OG or reissue?

I have a couple popsicles and the rest are all old school.

Think any of your teachers at school or friend's moms are hot?

Umm... one of my friend's aunts is hot.

School lunches still suck?

Actually the lunches got better because they have Pizza Hut deliver the pizza. But the pizza is the only good shit there.
